About Barley Wood

Set within the stunning North Somerset countryside, Barley Wood offers exclusive venue hire for all occasions including weddings, conferences, retreats and overnight stays.

Our renovated eighteenth-century country house boasts two large function rooms, nine double bedrooms, with breath-taking views of the Mendip hills, and five bathrooms fitted with freestanding roll top baths and a walk in shower.

Established in 2015, Barley Wood is the second addition to YMCA Dulverton Group’s social enterprise project.

The local, youth focused charity took on the task of restoring our important grade two listed building, formerly the home of Hannah More, the social philanthropist.

All of the monies raised through the operation of Barley Wood supports the charitable aims and objectives of the YMCA.

The main aim of the project is to provide opportunities for young people to learn, develop and thrive, so the bookings, the service and the facilities, at Barley Wood, are looked after by our young people, giving them a chance to develop the skills needed for future life.
